Exposure Assessments

Often, when an indoor environmental stressor (e.g., mold) is found indoors, people want to know if their health will be negatively impacted. This is where having a hazard assessment does not provide for one's needs. A risk-potential needs to be determined through careful analysis of the built environment, the building's use, and the building's occupants. Such assessments require a level of assessment competency greater than indoor air quality testing, mold testing, or water quality testing; because, it's not just about what contamination is present or where the contamination is, it's about how one may be exposed and what the risk is to that person's health.

If you believe an indoor environmental stressor is leading to ill-health, it is important to have (1) a qualified doctor treat you for your illness and (2) a qualified indoor environmental risk assessor, who does not practice a conflict of interest, assess your home or office. Gulf Coast IAQ provides accredited assessors with experience performing risk assessments.

"Water damaged building materials breed not only mold, but also bacteria that can wreck your health. The air you breathe is so very very important.

"Jason has the credentials to win in court, equipment, and knowledge/ experience to diagnose building issues and make the best plan to have them fixed. Do NOT take advice from remediation companies. Hiring Jason will save you in the long run! He can make the best plan so you don’t get swindled into unnecessary work, or you don’t pay for incomplete work that just ends up doing nothing- or even worse, kicks up /spreads nasty pathogens without proper engineering controls containment."

"Our office needed some help with a small amount of water damage to one of our walls. My dad is an extremely nervous person when things like this happen. Honestly it was a little to much stress for him to handle. Mostly due to the fact to the lack of knowledge as to the best way to fix the effected area. I was really concerned that someone was going to come in and apply the scare factor to drive the price up with this repair, however just the opposite happened. Jason came out to our office looked at the area, and sample reports that we had already completed. As much to my surprise he came up the a plan of action to completely resolve the issue with a very reasonable cost. However the best thing he did for me was to bring comfort to my dad. He completely explained the reports to us in detail and put everything into simple and understandable terms. Jason is one of those special people that perfectly combines knowledge, work ethic, integrity, honesty, and most importantly the people skills. In my line of work it's key to be able to recommend a service provider and know that my client is going to be satisfied. I can think of nobody that I feel more comfortable recommending than Jason. As a matter of fact I have done just that, I passed his name out several times."
